Kiriko Made

Kiriko is a lifestyle brand forged from the spirit of Mottainai; a Japanese value that embraces one to waste nothing and recycle everything. A small business founded in Portland, Oregon, Kiriko has a beloved Brick & Mortar as well as a highly active ecommerce site.

Selected Projects

Selected Projects

In addition to Photography, I worked on a variety of projects during my time at Kiriko Made.

Below are 3 examples of multi-disciplinary projects I worked on.

2021 New Year Postcard

  • The goal of this project was to create a postcard to send to all online customers during the week of the 2021 New Year. This was made with the intention of creating a personal touch to every order we received and a way to say thank you for your support.

  • I led this project and executed all design and illustration. With reference to traditional Japanese patterns and style, I wanted to create something that resonated with Kiriko Made’s brand voice and mission.

Mock: Billboard

  • This is a mock work I designed with the goal of experimenting with out of home marketing tactics such as Billboards. This campaign is meant to introduce Kiriko as a lifestyle brand.

  • Design and execution. Using a simple but captivating layout to succinctly encapsulate Mottainai (勿体無い); a Japanese value that embraces one to waste nothing and recycle everything.

Social Media Campaign

  • During my time at Kiriko, I led a project to create a custom Instagram Story template in Figma that our team could use during educational campaigns.

  • With Kiriko Made’s audience personas in mind - I developed this creative strategy to make “deep dive” Instagram stories that explore the history behind certain Vintage Japanese or Ainu pieces that our store carried.
